Some hint to make life easier in cold&dark scenario at night:
SHIFT+E - to open cabin door and illuminate entry lights
SHIFT+L - to illuminate cockpit

My work around is to use the accelerate time feature, (without actually setting the time) click the light switches and than cancel it.
