High Idle and Low Idle Turbine RPM

Post by mjans19 » Tue Dec 24, 2019 12:38 pm

Hello,

Now I don't know if it is fair to compare products but as my point of reference, I have used the AFL Ka350 for X-Plane and observed one slight difference in behavior for which I am wondering which one is correct. Not having flown a real Ka350 before this is my only point of comparison...
I noticed that on the AFL King air, the High Idle turbine idles at around 76 % rpm and on low idle around 62 %
If you are in Ground Idle when you use the High Idle condition/ Ground Idle throttle combination, the props will certainly rev up to 1700 rpms but go back down to around 1050 in a Flight Idle condition/ Ground Idle throttle combination.
On your product, for some reason the condition levers seem to have no effect on the turbine rpms and the turbine will always spin at around 65% regardless of it being in low idle or high idle, is this normal? Changing conditions will have no effect on prop rpm either.
Which behavior is correct?

Hi,

We are working on an update on the engine levers to support different hardware configs.
For now on just manage Condition Levers by using typical keyboard keys combination or a hardware controller assigned to Mixture.

When using keys : CTRL-SHIFT-F1 to cutoff fuel ; CTRL-SHIFT-F4 to Low Idle when from Fuel Cutoff, then CTRL-SHIFT-F4 to cycle between Low and High Idle with engines running. CTRL-SHIFT-F2 to decrease lever and CTRL-SHIFT-F3 to increase it.

Accepted real N1 % values for low idle and High Idle are between 62.0/64.0 and 70.0/72.0. Values outside these limits need a CL recalibration.

Our values are within the accepted envelope. And as Ground Low Pitch System (GLPS) is fully simulated, you will see fluctuations in prop RPM when you slowly move Power Levers in N1 ranges between 62 and 72 %.
