Lazy Autopilot
Hi Colin,
I have noticed since some builds ago up to 0.38 that the autopilot does not engage in some mysterious circumstances I just cannot reproduce the factors. The flights were done by day, dusk or night, and the KA checklist was followed to the letter, using the very same addons such as ActiveSky for P3D + Rex Environment Force + PROATC/X + Littlenavmap + UTLive + GSX. It always starts from dark and cold and fueled with 60% for an average distance of 250 nm. All types of weather were experienced.
Three situations were observed:
1. The autopilot does not respond from takeoff to landing, no matter the flightime. Once I tested during a 1:30hs flight without any reaction.
2. The autopilot engages and sometime after it disengages, flashes in pink and the disconnect horn sounds. Using the disconnect tab button, I can reengage the A/P, but soon it disengages again.
3. The autopilot engages normally and the flight is superb, with the aircraft behaving fantastically, with all the necessary systems flowing well.
When the autopilot does not engage, the right FD button also does not work.
Keep the good job, this aircraft is great.
Regards

Make sure the pilot and copilot Baro altimeters are synced. If you set one and not the other it will cause the autopilot to not engage or after a few seconds cause the autopilot to disengage.

Hi Ken,
Thanks so much for the tip. I will immediately insert this item in my checklist. This explains the randomness of the occurrences. I am certain I’ve read about this somewhere, but didn’t link one fact to the other.
