Chris,

If one is always satisfied with the time automatically determined by the Sim, i.e. I live in Rio de Janeiro and I always start flying around 2100Z. Then I put my KA350i at Cape Town (S.Africa) and, as my Sim is always synchronized with the Zulu time, any flight leaving Cape Town at this time will be at night.

If I'm satisfied with that, I don't touch the clock and FSUIPC or any other time app will be synchronizing the tics. Otherwise, if I want to fly from dawn or day, so I have to fiddle with the time offset and than that's the start of my problems with the engine. With the KA350i I have to do this BEFORE clicking the OK button at the Scenery Menu.

The RealTime application (or any other) IF NOT USED TO CHANGE the time in X hours, does not interfere in the engine wear mechanism.

Ah what I should have mentioned - FSUIPC has the option to only synchronize the minutes.

So when it's dark outside in real life, in the scenario screen after starting up P3D, I just go back a few hours but leave the minutes untouched.

This way, I can still chose to fly in virtual daylight, while the minutes are always synchronized to the real world time (so e.g. half past the hour is real life is always xx30 in sim time, which is very handy when calculating the ETOs)

But yes, the simulator time has to be set before starting a flight.

This is frustrating as sometimes, despite setting the time accurately before loading the sim, it puts me a day out so I have to adjust. It must be a timezone thing or something. I'm making excuses, it should work. If I select 1200Z on the 28th, it shouldn't load me at 1200Z on the 29th. That then puts me a day late for departure on my Air Hauler 2 route, so I have no option but to adjust and I get hot starts most of the time, choosing to limp on.

Just set your local time, that should work I guess?

Hi,

After seeking for a method to alleviate the delta time issues, I found one related to hours going backwards from initial time of loaded flight. In some cases that would lead to exaggerated values in engine control variables. It was fixed, and should be available on the next release.

Thanks

I’ve had it when going forwards too, just not as often as backwards.
