Another case of no panel lights on the KA350i [Resolved]
I can do the basics like start engines etc. but I have no panel lights -that is the switches and gauges that are backlit. The flood lights work fine.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled with UAC and virus checker off. I disallowed Trueglass and Truelight on the reinstall.
I also tried overwriting the panel folder contents with those in the "Legacy Renderer" folder. Still no backlight on the switches/gauges.
Not sure what to try next. can someone help please ?
Thanx !
Jeff

-Did you do a full sim reinstall? Also did not mention which version of the sim you are using?
-Try clearing PRepar3D shaders cache , let it rebuild ( can take a while on loading) and do not use any external tools for shaders nor force SGSS or SGAA with Nvidia inspector as it can break the lighting.
-Finally For the interior lighting to work, you must have Reallight installed.

Re: Another case of no panel lights on the KA350i
Hi
thanks for the help.
I'm using P3D 4.5.14.34698. This is a fairly newbuild computer and the installation is only ~ 8 weeks old, so I did not try wiping P3d and starting over. Hopefully that won't be required. Its a lot of work.
I first uninstalled and reinstalled the KA using default settings.
The 2 places I see shader files are:
1. in the KA's panel folder - its a folder called "shaders"
I deleted these files
2. in the top level of P3D - its called ShadersHLSL
This is a large folder tree with LOTS of files. I left them alone
When the KA loads now, I get a string of error statements about missing shader files that I reply "OK" to.
The KA then loads and I DO have backlight switches working now. But the EFIS
screens are dead. Am I deleting the right shaders ?
Thsnx

No, you need to delete the P3D shaders cache not any files in the aircraft folder or in the sim folder.jjb wrote: ↑Tue Dec 14, 2021 5:48 pmHi

Should be the files in your "C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4\Shaders" folder. Don't delete the folder itself, just the contents.
I've seen your issue before when people updated Prepar3D client only and didn't upgrade the content part of the sim. Usually wiping the shaders cache will fix the issue.
If clearing the cache doesn't help try re installing the Prepar3D "content " portion. You can find instructions for that on the LM website or Avsim.
