Model, texture and lighting items currently broken
Hi there,
This is more or less for Bill @N4GIX. The following items related to modeling, texturing and lighting are currently broken since the 1.2 from November 2020:
1.) White beacon light
As described here:
viewtopic.php?f=105&t=12636
If you point me to correct fx file, I will fix it myself by adjusting the RGB value. The thing it, I cannot find it.
2.) Wrong texture in LH side panel This panel is supposed to have the same texture as the surrounding areas. I will darken the texture myself but this cannot be the solution.
EDIT: The overhead panel has the same issue.
3.) LH side recognition light dynamic light missing.
Please the see the screenshot 4.) Cockpit way to dark. The cockpit also is a black hole an way to dark. I have NO shader modification installed and my P3D sliders for HDR are pretty much centered. On that note, we rather could say, the side panel from item 2 is more or less correct and the rest of the panel is wrong. The cockpit is gone from one of the best locking to a black hole. 5.) PBR on metallic surfaces. These were awesoem in P3Dv4 but are plain ugly in v5. I know the PBR has changed but please adjust the metallic values (you could sue the ones from the P180).
Here are my P3D settings to avoid that question:

Re: Model, texture and lighting items currently broken
I took a look at the installer as I KNOW the metallic textures were improved for v5. Please try these files and let me know if there is a difference. overwrite the same files in your KA/textures folder. It's possible my predecessor did not include them or they made it too late into the build. I can't say...
Your cockpit textures do not look right nor do they look like what is on my system. If you have upgraded P3D you need to make sure you are installing the content also not just the client or your shaders will be messed up.
As far as how dark it is, this product was developed on V4 and as we all know V5 changed the way stuff looks....inexplicably. These are the exact textures between V4 and V5....Ask LM why they wouldn't look the same.
There are some things you can do to brighten it up. 1) Don't use EA 2) turn off internal vehicle cast/recieve shadows.
Finally you also may try using the panel files that are in the KA folder in a subfolder called "legacy render" simply copy all these files and replace the files in your panel folder. More people had a better result in V5 using these but everyone's system is different so your miles may vary. Some say it's less prone to crashing or going OOM in V5 using these.
As far as lighting issue. I haven't seen that before. I'll have to investigate further..I believe the lighting is baked into the model.

I have used the latest installer (reinstalled before I made my post to check the issue is not with me) and my P3D is up to date (Client & Content). But I will double check just to make sure.

Reinstalled content and used your files. No progress unfortunately. EA was and is off.
Using the legacy files also did not help. Also, they are for the panels not for the cockpit.

Re: Model, texture and lighting items currently broken
My solution was to use fslabs spotlights to artificially raise the internal lighting. Set once, works forever...
However, I would think that it should have been Milviz's responsibility to adjust the texturing for v5 so a consistent look was maintained. v5 is a different animal, and shoehorning textures designed for v4 into v5 then saying its LM's responsibility it looks different doesn't feel right to me.
That said, it's unarguably a great aircraft.

It is without a doubt milviz responsiblity. Image you are a customer buying it for v5. I would be really mad. Even more then I am now that my 80 dollar plane is usable but looks like an unfinished mess when it was looking great before.

I am having the same issue with the missing Recognition Light on the latest built, how can I fix it?
Is there another update in progress?

For anyone experiencing dark VC cockpits with EA in v5.2, the mod posted in this thread here may help ==>>> http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic ... 0&start=15

As I said. A LM problem
But really, thanks for pointing out that tweak it looks close to 4.5 now...
