P3D5 v1.2 Flashing EFIS displays
Hi Steve -
Since updating from v1.1 to 1.2 this past week via clean install, my KA B350i is working great in P3D4.5 HF2, including radar, terrain and CHARTS.
Since I also have P3D5.0HF2, I installed v1.2 there" also. Experimented with low res textures but it only makes a 0.5GB out of 5GB reduction in GPU use, and visually I don't see a big difference.
All seems working well in P3D5 except that all five displays (MFD/PFDs/RTU/ESIS) flash synchronously every 2-5 seconds - the rate is irregular. Haven't seen any reports of this from others on the forum.
Any thoughts on possible cause, or what to try ?
Don't see anything like it in my other aircraft (e.g. FSL A32x, PMDG NGXu).
My Win100 system runs smoothly at 30+ fps. My 2080Ti driver is current; FXAA off, 2xMSAA, Aniso4x. Disabling HDR or dynamic lighting has no effect.

Re: P3D5 v1.2 Flashing EFIS displays
I have seen that happen in V4 and was caused by a Windows update to the OS for some people. You can try to right click your P3D icon and pick "properties" and go to the compatibility tab and put a check mark for the highlighted option below. (disable full screen optimizations)
Also this could be a Vsync or video driver issue. Make sure you are using the latest Nvidia drivers. If the above doesn't work try using vsync or limiting your FPS in the sim( it doesn't matter if your sim can even maintain what you set, only that there is a limit)

Steve -
My NVidia 2080Ti driver is the latest, 457.30. My Phillips 4K monitor isn't Vsynch. Latest Win10 Pro updates installed.
I'd previously followed a suggestion by FSLabs Lefteris Kalimaris' to avoid using the P3D FPS limiter (by changing it to unlimited) and using the NVidia control panel fps limiter instead. I had my NVidia control panel set to 40. In P3D4.5 my MV KA350i and my FSL and PMDG aircraft all run smoothly.
For me the MV KA350i EFIS flashing is unique to P3D5, and to this airplane.
Following your suggestions, I disabled Fullscreen optimizations in P3D5, but it had no obvious effect.
Discovered that activating the P3D5 FPS limiter at 30 fps, leaving the NVidia limiter at 40 greatly reduced the rate of flashing, though it didn't entirely eliminate it. (Incidentally doing the reverse: P3D5 at 40 fps and NVidia at 30 didn't work, nor did P3D5 at 30 with NVidia at unlimited.) Perhaps that provides some clue as to the origin of it.
I plan to update to P3D5.1 soon; I'll wait and experiment again after that. Does the MV B350i v1.2 run without flashing EFIS on your systems under P3D5.1?
Many thanks for the help

Yours is the first report I've seen of it.

Did you try what I posted above? A windows update that added that setting has caused this issue on 4.5 and in all cases I've seen so far fixed it. V5 is a different animal as its using DX12tcarter.67 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 20, 2020 10:33 amSorry but i am seeing this behaviour in P3D4.5 as well.

Steve -
Never experienced the flashing EFIS problem with v1.2 under P3D4.5HF2, only under P3D5.0.
But happy to report that after updating my client to P3D5.1HF1, the flashing disappeared.
So I'm now back running with FPS unlimited in P3D, and limiting FPS to 30 in NVidia control panel.
