There must be a trick? I am using a slider on my X-52 and that works on PMDG aircraft. On the Phantom all I see is the speedbrakes "shutter" ever so slightly. I have deleted all key mappings to preclude control interference. Sensitivity is all the way up and the null zone is all the way down...

That's because they are controlled as part of our flight control system. In the real aircraft, you had a sliding 3 position switch to control the speedbrakes. Open, Close, and Hold. As such, axis commands for a speedbrake in the F-4 are not supported.

I am sure this sort of thing makes you bang your fists... but I can't get any joystick buttons to work with the speedbrake. I have attached a screenshot of the mappings on my X-52. I press the On/Off button, then the Speedbrake Inc button... nothing. I have the X-52 selected from 'Other' in the configuration manager. I have deleted all bindings in Prepar3D.

Ok I missed something from your other post asking about the difference between AMS and ACM.....The ACM you have just shown here is completely obsolete. It shouldn't even be on your computer anymore. The AMS is where all control assignments now happen.

No response from MVAMS either. Not even when I map the speedbrake functions to joystick buttons that I know work (ie flaps, brakes). I can't even get the speedbrakes to respond via keyboard commands; all I can do is use the default Prepar3D "/" key.

Do the settings persist in the AMS once you have assigned them? You can close and open the AMS and find them as you left them?

Yes, they persist.

Sim is running as admin? As in right click, select properties->Compatibility->Run this program as administrator? Also is it set up to use DirectInput, not RawInput?

This has me wondering now if there isn't a constant conflict between your axis assignment and the button assignments.

I'll hook up my CH Flighstick Yoke tomorrow and see if that works any differently...

Even with the CH Yoke I can't get the speedbrakes working. I noticed that the buttons read differently in AMS v. Prepar3D... an event might be mapped to button 29 in AMS and yet the same button shows up as button 30 in Prepar3D.

That's because the AMS uses a 0 based index for the display instead of a 1 based index. Button 30 in P3D is the same as button 29 in the AMS.

Once again though, this is with the speedbrake axis command disabled in the P3D controls menu?

The spoiler axis does not have any assignment, yes.

Which events did you set in the AMS? Spoilers Inc/Dec or Toggle? They are mutually exclusive by the way. If you have Inc/Dec don't use Toggle.
