FSX (Steam) Crashes When Engines Start
Hello,
I had to reload my F4 program. I deleted the old version and downloaded the most recent Download Va1-170721_E. Install asked for update and I ran the update and the MVAMS loaded and so did the F4. The virus protection was off. I set the MVAMS for Ready to fly. I started FSX (Steam) and the default is a 172 that is cold and dark. I loaded the f4 next.
The engines are NOT running when it starts. When I start the first engine, FSX crashes. This also happens if I start the default, start the engine and then load the F4. My Saber runs fine and so does my T38. It seems that the crash occurs when the engine is starting.
System is an ASUS with Intel 7, 16 gigs of ram and Win 10 (most current). I have seen no other similar problems with my other MILVIZ AC.
Any ideas please?
Cheers,
Ron Sagel

I believe your saved flight 172 has to have engines running for ready to fly to work.

Re: FSX (Steam) Crashes When Engines Start
Hello,
I tried it with the engines running in the default load - same result.
The sim crashes when the engines start - cold and dark begins OK but when the first engine is started, the sim crashes to desktop.
If started with the "ready to go" startup, the sim crashes when the startup begins and the first engine is starting.
What I notice is that at the time of the engine start, there is a dead spot in the sound, then the sound is back on but the USB control of the mouse and my GOFLIGHT interface are terminated. After the crash to desktop, the sim (FSX Steam) has been modified in that brake control is gone from the keyboard. I have to terminate STEAM and restart the sim. A computer restart fixes the problems but not F4 problem. I have uninstalled the F4 for now until a solution is found.
BTW - all other MILVIZ products ( almost all owned by me) work fine.
Cheers,

I have an idea what is happening. Will describe in more detail when I get home tomorrow.

You seem to have installed the FSX Acceleration version instead of the FSX-SE version. There was a problem with older installers that caused this. I will send you a corrected installer.

Hello,
Thank you for the solution.
The problem I had was from the installer (even the new one) pointing to the P3D folder on my computer (p3d has been uninstalled) even when I select the FSX Steam install.
All is fine now - thanks again
