crash in P3D V4.1 when switchin target HUD on
Hello,
I have installed the F-4E module, Tackpack extension and ADVanced module install in this order on a complete P3DV4.1 reinstall.
The F4E always crashes to desktop when I try to switch on the HUD target : first I put the switch (left of radar screen) from CL to OPEN, then the mode knob (right of radar screen) to CAGE which inevitably causes a crash to desktop!
It does not matter if I flip other switches before (flaps, TACAN, whatever...) or not.
The modules updated themselves through the MVAMS so I guess I have the latest (v4.1 crash free) version...
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers

Re: crash in P3D V4.1 when switchin target HUD on
The screen freezes and I get a windows message
"Prepar3D exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
If you tell me where to look for it, I could send you the crash log report.
Cheers

Re: crash in P3D V4.1 when switchin target HUD on
OK, here are the messages, 3 of them concern the crash : one has as source "Windows Error Reporting", another one "Application Error" and the third ".NET Runtime"
As I have no idea what it all means, I just append everything below, sorry if it is a bit indigestible...
I also saved a "Report.wer" file that was in the directory indicated below (the only file there actually), tell me if you need it as well.
Thanks for the help,
Cheers

Re: crash in P3D V4.1 when switchin target HUD on
Just to verify, it crashes only when you put the knob on CAGE? And you have verified that the engines are running and stable? Just want to make sure that it isn't a co-incident crash while the engines spool up.

Re: crash in P3D V4.1 when switchin target HUD on
yes, only when I put the knob on CAGE (or the positions after CAGE, A/G ...). If I leave the knob alone, no crash and I can fly.
It happens too (the crash) when I switch on CAGE during rolling.
I can do some more testing if you tell me what.

It happens if you put it on CAGE without moving the other lever from CL to OPEN?

No, it happens when the lever is on OPEN and the knob is moved to CAGE or passed CAGE.
It does not mater if I first move the knob to CAGE or the lever to OPEN : it crashes when both are switched, basically when the target in the HUD should light up. It happens on ground, in flight.

Please unzip this into your gauges folder and tell me if you still get the crash.

No worries. Get the crash report again so I can check if the offset is different. We are now in sync so I can trace it more easily.

Re: crash in P3D V4.1 when switchin target HUD on
here it is.
By the way, when I switch the nuclear weapon switch (I know, one should never play with the nuclear button...), some stuff get automatically activated, and eventually the OPEN lever and CAGE knob, where the sim crashes as when I do it manually.
I remember reading somewhere (but where?) that this nuclear weapon switch is a kind of shortcut. What does it do exactly?
Cheers

Hello Krazycollin,
I (re-) read the manuals and could not find any infos on the cheat shortcut associated to the nuclear consent switch.
Could you point me out the passage where it is explained please?
I found some mentions to the cheat in Milviz forums though, but it was concerning the F15, not the F4E...
Thanks
Vvince
