MVAMS problems, updating to P3Dv4

I have the F-4E installed in FSX-SE (standalone) but now that I have a copy of P3Dv4 I decided to try and install it on that platform. I don't have any previous version of P3D. My latest installer is version A1.170424 for FSX and P3D, which doesn't have a P3Dv4 option of course. I opened MVAMS to see if that would download the latest version. I selected the F-4E and it detected updates were available. It offered me a choice of FSX+FSX-SE, FSX-SE or P3Dv4. I chose P3Dv4 and it downloaded and installed some files (panel and texture folders), but not the complete version. I guess I need a full installer for the P3Dv4 base version so I've contacted the reseller I bought the F-4E from (PC Aviator).
On reopening MVAMS to update the F-4E in FSX-SE it bypasses the platform selection menu and restarts the previous download. Then it reports an error saying there was a problem opening the downloaded update. How can I reset MVAMS so it will allow me to select the FSX-SE version of the F-4E?
