Questions about F-4E
New question... I cannot locate the ILS panel. Manual says front cocpit left side. I am either blind or vertigo is upon me even with the plane standing on the ground...
New question 2... Can I choose the sparrow I want to fire? or is it a station 1-2-3-4 lineup allways?
New question 3... How do I drop the wing tanks? Center fuel tank I can do with the switch on the 6 o clock. But wing tanks I cannot figure out.

1: The F-4E (Or rather, our version) doesn't have an ILS.
2: Station lineup is automatic as I recall. You can use the HEAT Reject function in the AMS to choose which Sidewinder you want to fire though.
3: Same way the center tank is dropped. You select the outboard wing station buttons, put the Jettison selection knob on stores, and push the red button.

Big supprise that it doesnt have ILS.
Also strangest think I have ever read in a manual is
''dont use the down UHF antenna with Nose Wheel Steering because it interferes'' .
How on earth is this possible?
I dont suppose this is included in the Milviz product !

Is that in the -1 ie the real aircraft's manual? If so yes we didn't include that.

Q1... Trim seems to be a little slow. Even during dry acceleration It takes forever to re trim.
Is this the same for everyone or is there something wrong with my settings?
Q2... Main artificial horizon seems to be depended on INS alligment to function. If I skip INS allignment ( I want to fly visualy only) is there a way to get Main Artificial horizon to function? Like lets say it simply alligns with the Help compass or something !
Q3... Is it good practice to enter the carrier pattern using altitude hold? I mean did pilots trust the alt hold at such low altitudes and low speeds or did they fly the pattern manualy? Sometimes turning with 30deg bank and 200knts at 600ft I feel the alt hold will kick out and I will crash.

1: It should accelerate the longer you command the trim input. Which sim are you using and how is your trim set up?
2: Flip the little switch on the lower left of the ADI from INS to STBY.
3: As far as I know they flew it manually.

Trim system solved. I was ''press and release'', didnt give it time to accelerate rate of change.
Q1... After an excellent night training flight, I landed and could't open canopy (either front or WSO).
CTRL+E didn't work either.
It felt like it was trying to open but didn't. Made the sound, but canopy didnt move.
Never had this during day or dusk flights. Must be a night thing.
My setup is FSX steam edition + F-4E STD + F-4E TP
(don't own the ADV yet)

Tried installing the repaints pack from the milviz site...
Pack was installed ok. Aircraft.cfg that is included in the pack was copied ok.
As i run FSX and choose one of the new painted aircraft (the Hellenic air force one) the plane had very strange behaivior.
- Plane is constandly unstable
- Altitude hold has very wierd reactions (dolphins or a constand dive)
- HUD has strange blur lines
etc.
I had to uninstall everything and reinstal the Base F-4E and TP extension only. No repaints. Plane works ok again.
I think the problem is in aircraft.cfg

NEW PROBLEM...
I insert a tanker flight on the fsx map, and as I get back to the F-4E front seat, I turn on the TACAN to A/A and...
the plane shuts down !!!
Engines turn off, both of them.
Is this a known bug?

Do the throttles move to cutoff or the engine master switches turn off?

Ok here it goes...
I set up the tanker from the map... Tanker Tacan 51X (from my F-14 days
)
Then jump in the pit.
Set the tacan on, on A/A, on a random freq (75X)... Nothing hapens. Plane works normaly.
Then I switch the freq to 51X and ... the plane starts to shut down !!!
So its not the A/A knob, its activating the Tanker tacan freq that creates the problem.
Now the plane starts to shut down.
Throtles remain forward, at the position they were. I can move them ok.
Engine Masters remain on, and I can click them ok.
But both engines are shuting down, and as soon as rpm gets low all lights and instruments go out.
I must say it doesnt feel like the Engine masters go off, because as the engines shut down I have electricity for like 3-4 seconds.
It feels more like a ''Fuel Shutoff'' bug. Like as if the throtles are moved on the shut off position, although they dont move in the pit.
