P3D V4 F-4E (Advanced) engines catch fire on Start Up
I have the F-4J & S starting up ok in P3D V4.
(MVAMS Default State is set to Ready to Fly, I do Shift + 1 & set Chocks, Pilot & GPU 'On", hold Ctrl + E for about 8 seconds & both the J & S spool up ok & the engines start & they can be flown)
The -4E, with the same settings as described above for the J&S, has the first engine, [ left when viewed from behind], smoking & belching flame after I hold Ctrl + E. This appears to be a fire rather than enthusiasm to get going. 2nd engine does the same.
Any thoughts on how to overcome this?
Thanks

Re: P3D V4 F-4E (Advanced) engines catch fire on Start Up
Ctrl E is absolutely not the way to start these aircraft. Especially the ADV.
The startup process is really simple so I don't actually understand why you would want to use Ctrl E.
Turn on the 2 engine master switches. Right click the starter switch to trigger the cartridge for the right engine. Monitor the RPM and when it gets to 10-12%, click on the right throttle to move it from off to idle. Engine should light up and spool up.
Process for the left engine is identical, however you must Left click the starter switch instead of right click it.
If you want to use the GPU to start, after checking the GPU in the Shift 1 menu, go to the Addons menu at the top->Milviz F-4E and signal external airflow. Then use the start switch as described above to start the engines. (The J/S hasn't been upgraded to ADV yet so just signalling external air flow will start turning the right engine. You must signal again for the left engine).
The ADV does have a very advanced engine model so you are probably flooding the engine with fuel which is igniting in your tail pipe and giving you a bad hot start.
And the engines shouldn't be off when the AMS is set to ready to fly, unless your default flight has the engines off.

Thank you Gentlemen.
BTW, there are no 'labels or descriptions' coming up for anything in the Cockpit when I hover the mouse pointer over switches etc.
Is this as it should be?

No problem.
Have got the F-4E started ok now.
Throttles were sitting in Idle position & as suggested, probably dumping fuel into exhaust, hence fire.
Have also figured out SAS.
Good to go.
Thanks for assistance.
