MVAMS Hat Switch Trim issues

Post by sngray » Sat Sep 16, 2017 6:19 pm

OS Windows 10
F-4SJ vA1.170721_js
P3Dv4
Thrustmaster T1600m & TWCS Throttle

I'm trying to set up my controls using MVAMS, specifically I require the hat switch on my throttle to be used as the trimmer while retaining the hat switch on the throttle for Views(pan). This is how I've set up the controls within P3D for all other aircraft.

The problem is that with the hat switch set up and functioning as a trimmer via MVAMS the hat switch on the throttle will no longer respond.

Using other switches on my HOTAS for the trimmer leaves the hotas on my throttle working fine in View(pan) mode.

Switching to other aircraft also returns the hat switch on the throttle to the view(pan) mode, but then back to the F4 and it no longer works.

Hi (Scott Gray of vUSN?)

If I am understanding you correctly, you require the hat switch on your stick to be used as the trimmer and the throttle for Views? First, export your control mappings in the Controls menu. Then go to the "Other" menu and make sure you are using Direct Input, not Raw Input for your controls. What is happening is that the custom DirectInput mapping the F-4 uses for the AMS mappings is enumerating the controllers in a different order to raw input, and then when it masks those control inputs from the sim the sim interprets the masks as belonging to the Raw input enumeration order.

That said, you could also use the hat switch on your stick for both view and trim by using the Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keyboard modifiers in the AMS. Then you would simply press and hold the respective keyboard button and trim with your hat switch. When you release the keyboard button, your hat will go on being used for view panning.

Thank you very much problem solved, the setting was at Raw and not Direct (a page I admit I've never even looked at before). Just managed a first successful landing on the F-4, not pretty, work required but rewarding. Looking forward to getting to know the aircraft now.

Not Scott, but Stuart from the UK by the way.

Thanks once again excellent support
