F-4E Crash to Desktop - P3Dv4

Post by jtwillia » Sun Sep 03, 2017 11:28 pm

I have installed the F-4E (MilViz F-4E Phantom II vA1.170721_E.exe) into P3Dv4. When I select the F4-E from the aircraft selection menu and launch the sim P3Dv4 immediately crashes to desktop.

Can you post the crash report please? Found in start menu search->Event Viewer->Windows Logs->Application.

I can find nothing in the event viewer logs at the time of the CTD's.

I have, however, just successfully completed a flight with the F-4E. In the prior occasions when the CTD's occurred I loaded a flightplan before selecting the vehicle (F4-E) and then when initiating the flight it would immediately CTD with no error in the event viewer. If I load the F-4E without a flightplan then it loads OK and P3D starts normally. I am not sure why this is occurring but at least I can now use the F4-E in P3Dv4.

I am getting exactly the same issue:

MilViz F-4E Phantom II vA1.170721_E
Windows 10
P3dv4 (4.0.28.21686)

Nothing recorded in Event Viewer at all. Whenever I chose the F4, P3D crashes to desktop - F4 from startup scenario = CTD, starting a flight with another plane and then selecting F4 = CTD.

Amy help appreciated.

About when does the CTD occur when going from the startup scenario? Only after loading or right after clicking fly now?

If in create scenario, when I click ok to fly the cursor spins (progress bar never appears) and after a few seconds P3D crashes with no messages or logs that I have found.

If in select vehicle within a current flight, it's the same upon clicking ok to confirm aircraft selection.

Your P3D v4 is set to run as admin correct? As in right click, properties->Compatibility->Run this program as administrator?

Running as Admin does not make a difference sadly.

I saw in another thread that repairing the C++ redistributables solved a similar problem. I've tried this too (X86 and x64 versions) but it has not made a difference. Any advice on next steps would be appreciated.

This is without a flight plan loaded correct?

To summarise:

Whenever I select the F4, P3D crashes to desktop. This occurs if I make the selection from the scenario builder and click go fly or if I change to the F4 from within an existing flight.
From the point I click ok/go fly the cursor spins for a few seconds and then the crash happens.

The progress bar for loading the flight never appears. There are no entries in event viewer. This happens when there is no flight plan loaded.

Running P3D as Admin makes no difference. I followed the instructions for downloading/installing (turning off UAC etc).

I also reinstalled the C++ redistributables as this seemed to fix a similar issue in another thread.

MilViz F-4E Phantom II vA1.170721_E
Windows 10
P3dv4 (4.0.28.21686)

Any advice on what I can do next, please?

Thanks,
Graeme
