F-4 J/S Smoke Problem and Taxi light ?

Post by Richard Portier » Sun Apr 30, 2017 9:52 pm

Hi,

1/This is I have during the start...cough... of the...cough...J/S version (last) and...cough !

After looking in the forum I found an old post on this subject stating a "glitch".

2/In the cockpit there is a taxi light switch. When I click on it there is a "click" sound but the button don't move. Is it normal ?

3/Thank you to have repaired the ILS in the J/S model :)

Regards,

Richard

Uninstall your F-4J/S completely and reinstall. It seems the installer didn't overwrite everything.

I did it and erased the entries in Fsx.cfg but there is always the big smoke...

I installed also the updated F4-E with Tacpack and Adv. No smoke problem with it but is it possible it interacts with the S/J version ?

Btw I load the S/J version without Tacpack...

Thank you and Regards,

Richard

Odd...Does the smoke occur all the time?

Only during engines start...every time. For the "J" and for the "S". Fsx Acc.

Oh I see the J/S uses a different cartridge start effect to the F-4E. That's normal then. We will update it to the new effect at some point.

Thank you Jonathan. May I add, I started engines with GPU not with cartridge, just in case...

Brown smoke

Using the latest release of the F4J/N I turned on the lights and this brown smoke emanates everywhere. Very Strange.

How did you turn on the lights? Not using the L key I hope.

Reverting back to v MilViz_F-4_Phantom_II_S_J_vA1.161120.exe (with update patch)

The smoke bellowed out when I pressed the "L" (lights). Hope this can be resolved.

As I said....PLEASE under absolutely NO circumstances should the L key be used for the lights. Use the control panels in the cockpit instead.

OKAY!! Then I guess, you are inferring that the present issue (in this version) that I have informed you of are normal and is of no consequence to your side of the patron/developer fence and that

this issue will is considered "normal" and that is the end of road as far as this goes. (Read: no plans to resolve this.

Funny thing, the previous version I have reverted to doesn't present this issue. Why do you surmise that is? I use the 'L" key all day long (previous version) and it doesn't smoke and belch like this version.

Did you see any complaints about this in the previous version? I don't think so. Instead, there were CTD issues in P3d which you generated a two file patch to mitigate the CTD issue. I think

you know what version and the patch I am referring to.

The L key is never used in any of our products. This is made fairly clear in all documentation.

Please do try and keep a civil attitude while here towards the devs. They're here to help you.
