F-4E Phantom II Install Issues
I recently purchase the F-4E Phantom II for P3Dv3 with TP. Followed the Installation Instructions... i.e. disabled the anti-virus software, ran as administrator... etc.
When I select the F4E from the plane list, it downloads and the cockpit appears for about ten seconds then the P3D shuts down and I end up at my Desk top screen.
I read postings on the forum that show other simmers have experienced the same or similar problem. In some of those posts I see that a response states, go to the MVAMS and delete the cgi's or is it CFG's.... What and where is the MVAMS directory? I don't find it in any of the installed folders for the F4E.
My P3D V3 SDK Setup 3.4.22.19868 was purchased on 4/4/2017, the MV F-4E with TP on 4/7/2017, so I have the most current versions.
My computer is an OMEN Hp Laptop
Windows 10
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700HQ CPU @ 2.60GHz
RAM 12.0 GB
64-bit Op System, x64 based processor
NVIDIA GeForce Graphics card
I own and fly all the A2A planes (civilian and Military).
I own the VRS FA-18 SB with Tackpack.
I had no problems installing these and running them in either FSX:Steam or P3DV3.
So, how do I resolve the MilViz F4E with TP problem?
Obviously it is working on other systems, so there is a fix. What is it?
Someone's help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Golfacce

Re: F-4E Phantom II Install Issues
Some CTDs managed to slip through the radar that are unrelated to the usual version compatibility problems. Namely due the joystick/hardware interface. Almost done with the fix this side which will also solve all problems relating to HOTAS setups.
The MVAMS is the addon management system. You should have a shortcut on your desktop. Right click on it and select go to file location. You will find the Configurations folder there with the mlvz files to delete.

Re: F-4E Phantom II Install Issues
Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for the reply. Ok, did the MVAMS config file deletes, then attempted to load the F4E and got the Error Msg: "Prepare 3D exe has stopped working" and back to my desk top.
I ran P3D again to make sure my other flight sims still work, which they do. So it is all Milviz F4E related. Any other suggestions? And should I re-install to get the config files back?
Thanks,
Golfacce

Re: F-4E Phantom II Install Issues
Not really at this time. I found some issues in the Sys dll that would be pretty much incurable on the user side that I am almost done fixing.

Re: F-4E Phantom II Install Issues
Thanks Jonathan.
How will I get notified of the update or updates?
BTW, I have joined a sim squadron (VCW-8) that includes Toby Wills, who is part of the development program for the Milviz F-4E/J/S. His Phantom works in P3D, so it would be interesting to find out what changed from his beta model to the latest Tackpack model.
Okay, I will set the F4E on the back burner until you folks complete the changes. I am confident this problem will be resolved.
Thanks again,
Golfacce

You will probably get an email from us. I will be announcing in the forums when it is released as well with some special directions for Saitek X-55/56 users.

Jonathan,
Now, three weeks Later, were there any new revisions releases to resolve the problem described in my initial post on this thread?
Thanks,
Bob

Re: F-4E Phantom II Install Issues
Hi Bob, JB can correct me but there has been a new iteration that failed beta. It has subsequently been fixed and is entering testing now.
With any luck (tempting fate here) you should get it sometime next week.

Just when I would think things were fixed the testers would find another bug that I would have to unravel.

Re: F-4E Phantom II Install Issues
Hi Jonathan,
Received an email from Kat with the link to the update. It Works!
I downloaded the revision to P3Dv3 and took the Phantom for a spin. Nice bird. Much to learn though.
I haven't tried it on my FSX:Steam platform, Is the beta running on that planform?
Thanks,
Bob

Yes we do use it at times. I did some of the development on it.
