[RESOLVED] No Cockpit Lights in F4E for FSX:SE

Hey Guys,

I have been having a really frustrating issue with all the interior lights in the F4E; none of them have been working whatsoever. I've followed every available procedure, installed without AV, ran as administrator, checked permissions, running with all the simconnects, everything. I've spent hours trying to go through the files and figure this out. I've COMPLETELY wiped the game from my computer and ran a fresh install with no addons, then installed the F4E: STILL NO COCKPIT LIGHTS. I need some help guys. All the gens are turned on, all the masters, all the knobs turned, turned, and turned again. Nothing. Installed, Reinstalled....you get the idea. So if y'all could help me out here, I'd be very appreciative. Got this plane a few days ago for my birthday, and I'd really love to do some night flying.

Is there a MV_F4_NL.exe in the task manager processes list? Since FSX SE is run through steam, you have to make sure that your Steam.exe is set to Run As Admin (right click, properties\Compatibility\Run this program as administrator) as well as your FSX.exe.

Yes, MV_F4_NL.exe is indeed running. I believe Steam is running as admin as well, but let me double check. Man you guys are quick.

Also make sure that the Steam folder is in your AV exclusions. Barring that, nothing else should get in the way since it is actually running (normally the exe is prevented from being executed).

All the necessary exclusions are set, Steam is running as admin, still nothing. I've always been able to see the floods from the exterior view though. And I'm not sure if its a problem with the guage files, as the INS screen looks flat instead of the pretty textures I've seen on screenshots. Also, sidenote: my exterior cockpit view does not have the cool looking green glass over the gunsight if viewing from the front. Maybe that's inconsequential...

Not sure what you mean by the INS screen as there is no such thing. You mean the radar? Please go to your start menu\search and type in Event Viewer and hit enter. Go to Windows Logs\Application immediately after running the F-4 and see if there are any error reports involving anything F-4E or FSX.

Yes, sorry, the radar screen is not a reflective texture. Alright, I'll do that real quick.

From what I can see, there do not seem to be any error reports regarding either of those applications or folders. Anywhere I should look specifically?

Yeah, I've now thoroughly checked. Can't seem to find any errors.

Could this possibly be that my setup is not working with this latest version? I only have the version of the F4E downloaded when I purchased it around 5 days ago, and just to be thorough I've already re-downloaded without AV a few times. Could the download link I received have been faulty? The file was around 350mb, and I bought directly from the MilViz website.

Did you make sure your AV isn't hitting up the directory where the sim is installed?

Yes, I've set a number of specific exclusions in my AV program, including the entire Steam directory.

Do you have P3D installed as well?

No I do not. Just FSX: Steam. And I just did a fresh reinstall just to eliminate any issues.
