Post by RD1 » Sat Apr 06, 2019 7:20 pm

Came across this on my FB page from Lakenheath. 3 F-15E's painted in Honor of the paint scheme US airplanes used to be identified as friendly during the D-Day invasion.

Yep, my next 3 paints!!

Started painting on 2 of the 3 Eagles that had the D-Day paint schemes. I'll do the third one when these guys finish up the F-15C. Nothing will be released until the C model is done and painted. So that gives me about 2 years to get these D-Day Eagles painted.

If anybody has a good working "mapnine.psd" from the paintkit, I could use it. Mine isn't working and will not load in Photoshop 2019. If not, I have to stop wasting my time on painting all 3 Eagles.

No go. Don't know what the issue is with Photoshop. Never had a problem until one of the last few updates.

Thanks for trying to help. Much appreciated!!

Same error message as the .psd. Something to do with a shader file or format inside the file. It loads for half a second as a "ghost white" texture then fails with the error. Gotta be something within Photoshop I'm missing (settings).

While I'm having issues with Mapnine, I'm going to dredge on and paint the 3 planes. Luckily I've been painting since 2005, so I'll tackle that last and create my own layer sets.

Otherwise, a couple update pics of where I'm at on the first one, the "yellow" tail of the 494th Fighter Squadron.

First things first, thanks to whoever created the paint kit for this bird. At least to the point that I can omit a layer or erase what I don't want or need. Then there's the things that are a sum-bitch to work with. Case in point, if I paint the top tail lamp, I have a color spot on the tail I don't need. Who's the brainchild for that screw up??

Otherwise, an update on the yellow and red tail of the RAF Lakenheaths paints. I've included the real deal for detailed reasons. Map One, is completely done for the Red and Yellow tail. Now on to the wings and the many little details that have to be done to them.

I noticed the views count today. It would be nice to see even the smallest of comments on what you all think so far.
