F-15E Strike Eagle crashes FSX

Post by ghostrider78 » Tue Jan 31, 2017 1:24 am

I am running FSX boxed version with Service pack 1 and Acceleration installed in Windows 10 and I do not use Tac Pac. I install the F-15 in the Milviz recommended way as administrator and the plane installs okay. I choose the F-15 in FSX aircraft menu, when I hit fly now button the chosen F-15 shows in the window and starts to rotate, after a few seconds of this a dialog box pops up stating an error has occurred and FSX is shutting down, this then happens every succeeding time and also with different airplanes. I then have to uninstall the F-15 including any references to it in fsx.config to get FSX back working properly again. I have quite a few add on airplanes including a fair number from Milviz and what I described above only happens with the F-15, everything else works fine. I did have the F-15E installed with same set up on Windows 7 and had no problems, now with Windows 10 I'm having a problem .... coincidence ?? My Windows 7 and now my Windows 10 are both 64 bit. This is driving me NUTZ !
Thank You !

Try compatibility mode (the F-15E is not supported in WIN10)

Thank you Kat, I'll give that a try; I sincerely hope this works. I assume you mean running FSX itself in Windows7 compatibility mode.

Correct. Also make sure FSX is running as admin.

That didn't work. I installed the F-15E with anti virus program turned off, in FSX.EXE under properties/compatibility I have run as administrator checked off and run FSX in Windows7 compatibility mode. When I hit the "Fly Now" button, instead of going to the airfield a dialog box pops up saying an error has occurred and FSX is shutting down. If I then choose any airplane, I press the "Fly Now" button and after a few seconds a dialog box pops up saying a Fatal Error has occurred and FSX is shutting down; i.e. FSX stops working all together. I have to uninstall the F-15E to get FSX working again. Is there any way to get the F-15E up and running or am I screwed?

Thank You !

Have you tried doing this in your dll.xml file? -->

<Launch.Addon>
<Name>MILVIZPACK</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>True</ManualLoad> <---set this to True from False
<Path>Modules\MILVIZ\Milviz_pack.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>MILVIZ_F15E_Nav</Name>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>True</ManualLoad> <---set this to True from False
<Path>Modules\MILVIZ\F15E_Nav.dll</Path>
<DllStartName>module_init</DllStartName>
<DllStopName>module_deinit</DllStopName>
</Launch.Addon>

Try this, as it allows you to load or not load the F15 modules...it may help.
Good luck,

Did you install the hotfix that came out to sort out TACPACK compatibility issues? It also provided more stability.

Gentlemen,

I did both suggestions, that seems to have done the trick. I haven't flown the plane yet but now it shows up on the runway without crashing FSX; I'm assuming I'm good to go here.
I salute all involved helping me out !

I will also try these fixes as I've just about given up trying to get the F15E to work.

It's a real shame that for what is probably one of the best aircraft ever made for FSX has all these issues. By now I would have expected Milviz to update this aircraft to be compatible with Win 8 and 10. I run three different flight sims and have to say that your aircraft are the best I have ever experienced - just wish the Strike Eagle would work. Maybe the best solution would be to port over your models to a new platform like DCS or X-Plane 11 (which is really outstanding at the moment!).

Keep up the fantastic work but please don't ignore this Strike Eagle in the future.

We can't fix it as the coder took off with his code.

Sorry.

The only fix we could really do is to do everything over from scratch. I wouldn't mind doing that but there are other things we have to do in order to survive.
