Hi guys!
Any news in terms of your Blackbird?
Maybe you are able to post some screenshots?

I can‘t wait to fly that beast!

Hope you‘ll release the SR71 soon...

Rock on,
Schröder

Hi Doodlebug!
WOW!
Thank you so much!
Your Blackbird looks fantastic!

Is it so hard to release it?
Just sayin, but you‘ve annouced the work in progress of the Blackbird so long ago and you‘ve released so many aircrafts since then, haven‘t you?
I guess it‘s hard to implement the air to air refuel, isn‘t it?

I can‘t wai to pay for that beast!

All the best to you and keep up the good work!
Rock on, Schröder

Oh wow - the night lighting pictures are terrific!

I joined the forum for two reasons:

One, to express my interest for this plane. I’m going to buy this, and will buy P3D just to fly it, if this is not made available for X-Plane. Experiencing this plane is a must for me :D.

Two, I was wondering if Milviz would consider offering a “lite” version of the plane for X-Plane, primarily targeted at casual users. It would have the full high fidelity graphics, sound and slightly improved flight modelling over x-plane 11’s default blackbird. It should be made explicitly clear that this is “lite” on the sim aspect and priced accordingly, to set people’s expectations and not affect the Milviz brand.

My naive hope (without any knowledge of the market) is that this would be a win-win for all:
For the casual users of x-plane 11, they get to experience flying this legendary craft at a visual quality not seen before, without having to study the sim, and at a lower price than the full study-level sim.

For Milviz, this should amortise the development costs by leveraging the work already done in producing the high quality 3d model, textures and research — by expanding the target market. I’m assuming the cost of porting assets for this “lite” version to x-plane is not a lot — that is Milviz would decide what goes into the lite version based on the porting costs to x-plane. Graphics and sound assets should be cheap to port, and the flight model simply can’t be the full fidelity version for the general users anyways, so hoping that would be cheap to develop as well.

The full fidelity study-sim version could be released as an upgrade, if Milviz chooses to release it for X-Plane.

Or perhaps team up with someone like Flying Iron simulations who are developing the F-117A Nighthawk for X-plane.

Maybe in the future better tools will be available but unfortunately, at the moment, the cost of porting a model to X-Plane is way more than you'd think (more than we thought too).

I see, then I'll probably get P3D. Thanks for the response.

Will your blackbird have easy modes? Will it have a working periscope -- in VR?

Yes - the MVAMS options include a "realism slider" and several other sliders to control how intense and realistic the experience will be.

If all these sliders are to the left, minimum realism, etc; then it's effectively "easy mode".

Or perhaps we should say "easier mode" since it doesn't make the aircraft any easier to fly, but it does protect you from 90% of the consequences of not flying it properly.

The periscope: since it was in the real airplane it will be in our simulation.

Just saying, the FS2020, and SR-71 are probably a match made in heaven ;) The ability to fly anywhere in FS2020 (with high res globe data adaptively streamed in) and the blackbird's speed would make for some stunning aerial "tourism", without having to manually manage GBs of HD orthos.

I'm super interested in FS2020, but have no interest in general aviation. Hoping the SR-71 is gonna be in there :)
