Question about the chart viewer
Question about the chart viewer
I ran across this nice feature the other day and was wondering if it's functional yet. If so, can you tell us how to get it working?

I can't remember where but i read somewhere that it's not functional yet. (remember now. that was in the email received from Milviz). (charts are not done 100% yet).

Re: Question about the chart viewer
When the chart viewer does become functional, there will be a folder created into which the customer can place whatever .pdf charts they wish to have available:
x:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\FsEFC
Charts from Canada are packed into a single .pfd file such as CYQB.pdf.
Charts I've found from the FAA are individual .pdf files for each approach, runway, airport diagram, etc. These will be placed in their own sub-folder such as ..\KJFK and this arrangement allows one to include some if not all of the available charts for their reference.
For example, since the KA will most certainly never need the "Copter RNAV (GPS) 028º" approach, there's no need to download and include it in the KJFK sub-folder!

Re: Question about the chart viewer
So, I played around with the chart viewer over lunch. I created a new folder in the FsEFC folder and named it KMYF. I downloaded all the pdf charts for KMYF into that folder. I loaded the King Air at KMYF but the chart viewer was not an option in the MFD menu. What's the correct way to use the viewer?

Re: Question about the chart viewer
Silly question perhaps, but did you perhaps not press the button obscurely labeled "CHART" on the CCP?
Hint: press Shift-3 to bring up a 2d window with the CCP visible.

Re: Question about the chart viewer
Silly question?
That has to be the most unbelievably hilarious question ever posed. I mean, seriously Bill. Did I press the chart button... that is comical.

No, I didn't see that button.
In alpha 1 the chart viewer could be accessed by cycling through the MFD menu using the "line select key" on the left side of the MFD, so that's how I thought it was done.
But, apparently. there. is. a. button.
Gotta go. Thanks!

Re: Question about the chart viewer
Chart viewer is working but it appears you cannot have individual pdf files for the airport diagram and each approach in a folder, but rather you have to have 1 pdf file that includes everything for the airport to be available in the chart viewer. Problem I am having is the charts are a jumbled mess when shown on the MFD, i.e. they are scrambled and unreadable. I know it's alpha and maybe there is still work to do, but that's what I am seeing.

Re: Question about the chart viewer
Todd, position your aircraft in some obscure corner at KBOS or KJFK and check out the charts available.

Re: Question about the chart viewer
Oh, I had forgotten that we "stepped back" to an earlier gauge build where this feature hadn't been implemented yet.

Re: Question about the chart viewer
Sorry, Bill, I never got back on this. I never got it to work unfortunately. Of course, now I get CDT 's so the chart viewer is now the least of my "issues."
Re: Question about the chart viewer
Have purchased the latest alpha a couple of days ago and am trying to access to chart viewer. Sitting at a GA parking position at KMRY the MFD shows the correct Airport ID in magenta under origin but I cannot open a pdf. All charts are in a KMRY folder I have created at the corrent location. Has this feature not yet been implemented?
